The Problem

Time & High Operating Temperatures

The differential is a gearbox that transfers and divides power to the axle and wheels. It depends on lubricating fluids for proper operation. Over time, high operating temperatures reduce the fluid's ability to lubricate, which can lead to expensive axle and bearing failure.

The gears of a differential allow a car's powered wheels to rotate at different speeds as the car turns corners. The car's drive shaft rotates the crown wheel, which in turn rotates the half shafts that lead to the wheels. When the car is traveling in a straight line, the planet pinions do not spin, so the crown wheel rotates both wheels at the same rate. When the car turns a corner, however, the planet pinions spin in opposite directions, allowing one wheel to slip behind and forcing the other wheel to turn faster.

The Solution

Front & Rear Differential Service

This service extends front and rear axle life, and reduces driveline noises.

1. A complete system inspection with a road test (if required).
2. Clean out all contaminants and remove old oil.
3. Installation of new approved fluid.

FEATURES:
Remove the old and contaminated gear oil from the differential gear box

Replace with new gear oil that contains the correct additives to help keep the gear cases operating properly

BENEFITS:
Extends the life of the differential

Provides protection against rust and corrosion in the differential

Minimizes the effects of oxidation deterioration due to heat and high speed driving

Reduces wear and spalling (gear flaking)

Minimizes high speed foaming of fluid which causes lower lubrication efficiency

Maintains warranty requirements

RECOMMENDED SERVICE every 30,000 miles or per Manufacture recommendation

DID YOU KNOW ?
The differential allows wheels to turn at different speeds, enabling corner turning with improved traction. The differential gears are lubricated with a fluid that carries heat away from them, thereby preserving their life and performance. Most four wheel drive cars have both a front and rear differential.
